Paper Mache Little Birds
To create your whimsy birds you can use the paper mache strip recipe or the paper mache clay recipe, it is totally up to you and both look great. The recipes are in the recipe playlist found on the main page of the channel.
In the video we will make cute little birds that can decorate any room in your home. Create a hanging bird mobile for your child's room or create a bird bouquet. You can heavy wire to create feet for your birds as well.
It's pretty easy, I believe it is something that you all can do and enjoy. Oh, goodness and they do turn out cute. I hope to get your creative juices flowing.

Make Your Armature
1. First we will make our armature by wading up newspaper into a pear shape and taping the pear in place.
Watching the video will explain a lot.
2. Apply 3 layers of your newspaper strips over your entire bird armature.
Now you add your cardboard wings and tail using paper strips. I cut my wings and tail from a recyclable card board pizza box. I love using the things we have around our house.
I make birds with and without the 3d attachments and I really just don't know wish I like the best; you decide.
You will let this completely dry.
3. Now you cover your armature in clay or cover with 15 to 20 layers of recycled newsprint and let this completely dry.
4. Sand your Birds down so he or she is nice and smooth. Add a primer coat of white acrylic or gesso. Sand again if needed at this stage.
5. Add your color to your birds and let it all dry again.
You can cover the paper mache birds with poly acrylic varnish and let this completely dry. (Minwax Polycrylic)
